The Problem with Logic

02/13/2020

Logic is an american, biracial, 30-year-old rapper that you have more than likely heard of for various possible reasons. Logic's biggest song is probably 1-800-273-8255. Although, you may have also heard of Logic because he has been in multiple people's lists of the worst rappers of all time! He has also found himself in controversies regarding his race and also had a public beef with Joyner Lucas, another popular lyrical rapper.

I, personally, enjoy a lot of Logic's songs. I feel like he gets a lot of hate he doesn't deserve but the problem is that he's the only one to blame for his constant hate.

I believe that Logic has proven many times that he knows how to rap and he knows how to write. The albums; Bobby Tarantino and Bobby Tarantino 2, have a very solid tracklist and you can't really talk down on the writing that's in these albums. ISIS, a song by Joyner Lucas that Logic featured on, is one of the best rap songs I've heard in a very long time! And Logic's verse is so solid. I was beyond impressed by all the technicality of Logic's verse! Therefore, Logic knows how to rap. I would go as far to say that Logic has a place in the best rappers of all time. Out of most of the modern rappers right now, Logic has some of the best technical writing. But I have yet to mention that; Logic is fucking lazy!

In 2019, Logic released his 5th studio album titled Confessions of a Dangerous Mind. And I truly believe that this album was pieced together in less than two weeks. If this album took real time, that's pathetic. Nearly every single song of this 16-song-tracklist, has a chorus that repeats a couple lines over and over and over again! All the hooks and choruses are so irritating because they don't ever change! Not to mention, the third track of the album calle Wannabe, is one-minute and nineteen-seconds. I usually don't have a problem with short songs. I do believe that most songs with less runtime should be cheaper, but that can get really complicated. But Wannabe has two irritating and repeating choruses and just one 16-bar verse. There is no impressive writing in this track and it's a damn chore to listen to.

After analyzing the "growth" of Logic, I really believe that Logic is an insanely talented rapper that has been getting lazy. I don't know if he has lost the passion for music or if he simply has been caring less about his music, but overtime Logic's skill has seemed to go down and down.

But I do need to say that Logic has gotten way more hate than he deserves. Tech9ine and Joyner Lucas both asked Logic to feature on a song and Logic has Eminem on his own album! Clearly, he can't be that bad. Eminem, Joyner and Tech are some of the most amazing rappers in history, so why would they want to work with Logic if these legends didn't believe he was worthy.

Obviously, I don't know Logic personally and I can't simply assume what his thought process is when going into the studio. But I truly think that he is a brilliant artist and he just needs to show his skill once again.
